SOPHIE CAPRON ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Sophie Capron is a life long artist who has been painting professionally for nearly a decade. Fascinated with the way nature interacts with the man-made, Sophie's art combines elements of the abstract and mainly focuses on textures, surfaces and decay. Having trained as a textile artist, her work has developed from there and celebrates the rich tapestries of stories, history and the past that run through every thing we see and touch.
Sophie has exhibited her work in Japan, America and Europe. 2017 has seen acclaim for Sophie's work grow, starting with the International Biennale in France and leading to exhibitions in the Bazemore Gallery in Philadelphia, the Artwave West in Dorset, alongside further exhibitions in Bristol, Wimbledon and throughout Cornwall. In the future she hopes her work will reach wider audiences both at home and internationally inspiring people to interact, engage and be intrigued by them.
Away from the studio, Sophie is a mum to two young boys and works at Roseland Academy teaching textiles, photography, multimedia and art.
